Plea to Nightfall

Pass me by Eros, let the fog take me
I am torn, between the two worlds
The winds blow out to the deep blue sea
My dreams turn in blinding curls
Take me home, to my love and life
Awaiting me, in serene beauty and calm
Time can show me if it was worth the strife
My confusion fights the healing balm

Nightfall, abandon me and bid me farewell
The anguish has risen again today, my love

Stand by me, the morality of my being
I stand to lose the dominion of affection
Banished by the light, looking back and fleeing
Befriended by none but retrospective reflection
Restore my glory, the walled goodness of my heart
Hand me a few more bricks, as I raise the wall again
It is a continuation, my love and not a new start
From the fleeting sensations I don't promise to refrain

Nightfall, abandon me and bid me farewell
The anguish has risen again today, my love

When work becomes secondary and distraction the norm
It is these moments that I discourse with myself
Analyzing, dissecting this trial's details and form
Placing these emotions on a pretend shelf
Oh, I fool none, not even the man who stares back
He admonishes not but questions my fountain
The buoyant emotions that ebb and  then crack
Leaving the scene empty, pure of ink or bloodstain

Nightfall, abandon me and bid me farewell
The anguish has risen again today, my love
