The eternal swim

She beckons me in her sultry tone
How eloquent she is in her utter silence
When the sun doesn’t take refuge in rest
And has illuminated my world for some days
She shows up with her promise of eternal devotion
How do I see her? How do I hear her?
Oh! Don’t be uncouth and suspecting dear reader
For in the brightest day I behold the silhouette
Of a tender plant growing in the corner
Its leaves jutting out in perfect symmetry
Wherever I look, the corner of my eye summons
For there lies the tender stem and striking leaf
“Conquer it,” they tell me as if they know the battles I must fight
Little do they know, the charms of my temptress
I look back, I reflect and have a fleeting desire for change
And then it comes like a river bearing the rubble of darkness

And I am swept away again

Crossroads

I face today the end of a dusty road that splits in ten
My walk was long but spent in idle thought
I came here with baggage of uncertainty
The litter I left on the path was my resolution
Time spent on roads not chosen is strange
Fog clouds judgement, even if the berries are sweet
We start the road guided by our hunger and lust
At the end we know not what satiety is
Shall I be generous and advise the reader?
Perhaps I have very little to say save what has been said already
The mirror of retrospection bears clear lessons
But walk is not so rustic or effortless
So I must take my leave with these words
Enjoy the berries but don't let the fog cloud your mind
